Deconstructivism

Deconstructivism was formed as a contrast to the restrained and laconic constructivism, it can be called a fairly young style. It appeared only in the late 80 – ies of the twentieth century. Its founder is considered to be the French philosopher Jacques Derrida, whose literary ideas formed the basis for the development of architectural style.

It is based on a complete rejection of the principles of constructivism. In other words, Decon (also called deconstructivism) is nothing but a distortion of constructivism. Its main features can be called:

The distortion of the forms of asymmetry and items;

Selection of one element against the background of the entire interior;

A combination of incongruous colors and shades ;

Broken intersecting lines and usage.

Today in the style of deconstruction are often made out of public places – whether it’s a youth café or night clubs. However, Decon is often used as an interior style for residential premises.

Material

Since deconstructivism arose during the mass introduction of advanced technologies in everyday life, the interior uses the most modern high-strength materials: reinforced glass, ultralight metal and plastic.

At the same time the complex shape of the partition walls, ceilings and doorways are often created with the use of drywall construction. They can replace such parts of furniture as bookcases, cabinets and various shelves.

Light and color

Special attention is paid to lighting in the interior. In contrast to constructivism, in which the main source of lighting is Windows, more deconstructed urban, here you can use complex structures with sewn lamps, diode illumination of individual interior elements and multi-level ceilings with spot lighting.

As for the color scheme, here, as in constructivism, preference is given to contrasting colors, but often used softer shades. The dominant color is white. This popularity is due to the fact that on a white background as well as possible stand out interior items of contrasting colors.

Furniture

Despite the fact that deconstructivism denies correct geometric forms, furniture in the style of Decon can be concise and restrained. Simple furniture avoids the accumulation of kalapatti in the interior, as the main emphasis is on decorative elements.

In the interior, you can use the latest developments, whether it’s glass tables and chairs filled with water, or sofas-transformers and chairs in the shape of a ball. The main thing is that all the decorative elements were designed in the same style and harmoniously combined with each other.
