Baroque

Baroque interior style has European roots. It was born in the XVI century and translated from Italian “barocco” means ornate, pompous. His vocation was originally to demonstrate the solvency and success of the owner of the house.

Little history

Such style as Baroque is inherent in the European interiors of XVII—XVIII centuries. At the same time, there are several theories about the origin of its name. It is said that Baroque comes from the Italian word “barocco” and means quaint, prone to excess. According to another version, the Baroque is of Portuguese origin and originates from the phrase “pérola barroca”, which can literally be translated as “pearl with a Vice”. However, whichever of the theories was not true in fact, it is known that the Baroque gained special popularity in the late Renaissance in the first place in Italy. His appearance in Rome, Venice and Florence put an end to the undivided power of classicism and rationalism, both in architecture and in the interior.

Personal touch

Baroque-style luxury and all the elements of the interior should correspond to only one rule – the more pompous, the better. In order to emphasize the richness of the interior using the appropriate materials: for wall decor – tapestries and woven carpets; the Windows are made of brocade curtains and upholstery often used fabric with gold threads, but not in less esteem remains satin and velvet.

Finish

The classic floor covering for the Baroque interior is marble, which can turn into decorative elements on the walls and even the ceiling. Natural wood can be used as an alternative to marble.
The walls are usually decorated with textiles. As finishing materials are often used brocade or tapestries, however, allowed pasting walls and paper Wallpaper in the appropriate colors.
As for the ceiling, the main emphasis in its decor is on heavy crystal chandeliers with gilded elements. In this case, the finish is applied to the painted surface ornate patterns, which are designed to visually increase the height of the ceiling and make the room more spacious.

Color solution

For interior decoration in the Baroque style is often used range of so-called “noble shades”. It is based on terracotta, Burgundy, purple, dark shades of green, brown. However, the basis of the Baroque interior is still gold.

Furniture

In the manufacture of furniture used only natural wood, mainly expensive species. Tables and chairs, armchairs and sofas are decorated with intricate carvings. Often also as decorative elements are used inserts of ivory or turtle shell.

Decor

Decorative elements are designed to emphasize and complement the ornate Baroque interior. Therefore, special attention is paid to large elements of decor: floor vases, stained glass Windows, covering the service placed on the shelves, mirrors in heavy wooden gilded frames. An integral part is also stucco, which frames not only the mantelpieces and window openings, and is used to emphasize the transition from the walls to the ceiling.
